Repositionable Spray Adhesive
First, turn your stencil over and spray the backside with some Repositionable Spray Adhesive, making sure to do so in a well-ventilated area and following all safety instructions on the can. Wait 30 to 60 seconds for the spray to become tacky.
Now, position the stencil on your canvas paper and press into place.
Americana Acrylic Paint
Shake your bottle of Americana Acrylic Paint in Mississippi Mud prior to to pouring out a small amount on a paper plate.
Preparing the Stencil Brush
After thoroughly soaking the bristles of your stencil brush, remove excess paint using the edge of the plate and by swirling the brush on a stack of paper towels.
The brush should be barely wet - too much paint on the bristles will result in bleeding underneath the stencil.
Stenciling
Apply the color in light coats using the same swirling motion that you used on the paper towel. Press a little more firmly with less paint on the brush to get into the the thin lines that make up the cursive letters.
When finished, peel away the stencil and wait a bit for the paint to dry.
Framing Your Sign
Finally, place the canvas in an appropriately-sized frame.
Your new Mother's Day sign will hang beautifully in your own home or will make the perfect gift for that special woman in your life!
